Pre-Reunion Bike Ride and Brewery Visit
Ride with Classmates!
Join Phil Stern and fellow classmates for a Saturday bike ride on April 29th. Choose the route that suits you best, or join us at the end of the ride at roughtly 3:30 at Salt Box Kitchen in West Concord!
I hope you are looking forward to our pre-reunion bike ride on April 29. So far we have 14 Yeses and 12 Maybes.
I scouted potential routes; the best option starts in Concord MA on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail next to the West Concord MBTA station (less than a block from The Saltbox Kitchen).
I’m going to lead a 40-mile loop on scenic roads past Lost Pond, up to Groton-Dunstable, and back on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. It took me 3.5 hours at a meandering pace a couple of weeks ago. You can see photos on my Strava: https://www.strava.com/activities/8776005839
The 40-mile loop starts and finishes on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. Alternatively, up and back on the bike path makes a nice shorter ride for anyone who doesn’t want to do the 40-mile loop. People could ride up the bike path to Nara Park (10 miles roundtrip) or Heart Pond (18 miles round trip) or any distance people prefer.
I hope even if you don’t do the ride, you can join us post-ride at The Saltbox Kitchen, less than a block from the rail trail parking. They have good food, good coffee, and good home brewed ale. They also have limited seating. We can stand near the kitchen bar if we can’t find seats. If the weather is nice, we can take food outside but beers have to stay inside.
Time: 11:45 to 4-ish. Get there at 11:45 because we will roll at noon and return ~3:30. Post-ride we will gather at Saltbox Kitchen for food and drink.
Parking: at the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail parking lot. Set GPS for Concord Park Senior Living, 68 Commonwealth Ave, Concord, MA. Turn into the drive by the sign for Concord Park then take immediate left to get to the rail trail parking.
Routes:
-
Saltbox Kitchen loop: Lost Lake and Bruce Freeman Rail Trail (40 miles)
-
Saltbox Kitchen out and back on Bruce Freeman Rail Trail (10 or 18 miles)
