how to get your harvard key
If you don't already have a Harvard Key follow these steps to get Login credentials for access to alumni-only information.
1. Find your HAA ID
- This is a 10-digit number, unique to you, which can be found in the footer of any email sent to you by the Harvard Alumni Association, such as HAA eVENTS or the Harvard Alumni Gazettte.
- If you do not know or cannot find your HAA ID, please contact the HAA Help Desk or call 617-495-7777
2. Go to the this registration page and click "Alumni" for "user type"
3. You will be prompted to enter your HAA ID (from #1 above), your Last Name and Degree Year.
4. This will cause an email to be sent to the primary email address Harvard has on file for you.
- If you don’t have a primary email address on file, contact the Alumni & Development Services Office for assistance.
5. The email you receive will contain a link and a 6-digit confirmation code. Click the link, and enter the confirmation code.
6. Follow the remaining steps to:
- enter a "Login Name" (you can use your e-mail)
- enter a "Recovery Email" in case you lose your password or login name
- enter a "New Password" and confirm it in the "Confirm Password" field.
Your password must contain:
At least 10 characters
At least three of the following: uppercase, lowercase, numeric, or special characters
Your password may not contain:
Your email, part of your name, or part of your address
Common "dictionary" words of 4 or more letters
Number sequences of 4 or more numbers
Character repeated 4 or more times
7. Click "Submit" to complete the process.

9. To control what information is in your profile and what e-mails you receive from Harvard:
- Go to www.harvard.edu
- Click Alumni at the top
- Then "Community Login" (also at the top)
- Entering your Harvard Key will take you to your profile page where you can adjust "Email Preferences" (left column of page) and enter other information.
